This document provides guidance for participants in a career exploration program. - 3. dream explore the skies Gain understanding of your dream career. What is your dream career? Keep an open mind. Does it encompass your gifts + passions + values? Reflect on your Business Model You worksheet and build upon it to validate or maintain at least 3 career paths that you are interested in exploring. Key Fact: Millennials switch jobs more than any other generation. Switching careers is somewhat normal. Focus on what YOU want to do moreso than how it will be done.

Gain hands on experience, try new things, research your options, make connections. Don’t limit yourself. Making Decisions. Evaluate options and set goals; create a strategic career plan. Implementation. Create and polish your skills.

What is a mid level position & salary? What is a senior level position & salary? What is the projected job availability in 2022? What are the popular locations for this career? What skills does this position require and which of these skills do you already possess? Use Bureau of Labor Statistics, Linkedin, Glassdoor and Google to answer these questions. Set SMART goals and track performance, consistently. Example: I will raise $500 for Silence the Growl by hosting a picnic fundraiser for my personal network by July 5th.

Your mentor can better understand you and give you better advice when you can articulate WHAT you want (goals) and WHY you want it. SMART goals can help communicate this information easily. Practice using the SMART goals format NOW. In the exercise below, you will send us at least two SMART goals for this summer or school year.

- 9. identify explore the skies which resources will you use? As future leaders, everyone wants to help you. As female minority future leaders, you have even more assistance available to you due to biases in Western culture. Also, studies have found that diverse teams are more successful. (duh) Take advantage of these opportunities! Identify two resources for at least two of your career paths that you will utilize in the upcoming year. Set SMART goals on how you will gain this resource. i.e. I will sign up to take an online course on HTML5 by August 1 and complete the course by November 1.

July 25th - We will host the Date with Destiny Prep seminar at General Assembly Atlanta at 10am. Attendance is required. July 26th - You will meet your personally selected mentor at the Date with Destiny Brunch. Location TBA How is your personal branding project going? It is due July 25th and will be used on July 26th to help introduce yourself to your mentor.
