This document outlines a lesson plan using the ASSURE method to teach 1st grade students the months of the year. It analyzes the learners, who are 17 special education students with 70% white, 20% African American, and 10% Hispanic. Seven students have mild to severe ADHD. The objectives are for students to name all 12 months through calendars, songs, poems, and making their own calendars. Methods include using calendars, songs, poems, and student-made calendars to engage visual, audio, and tactile learners. Materials include a YouTube song and "Thirty Days Hath September" poem. Evaluation will have students recite the months song and show their custom calendars.
