AUDIENCE QUESTIONNAIRE
AND FEEDBACK!
In the following slides is our questionnaire that we sent out
to the whole of the Gryphon School Sixth Form. This meant
we would get varied responses that would help us in our
target audience.
1. ARE YOU MALE OR FEMALE?
• Response:
This is information from our
questionnaire to find out more about my
target audience and what they want the
music video to look like so the video will
appeal to the audience and what makes a
good and bad video. This is the first
question about the gender of our target
audience to find out who pop music
appeals to more. Over 60% of the people
asked where female, and almost 40%
were male this is quite a large difference
and shows that more female people are
interested in pop music and that they are
who the music video should appeal to.
2. HOW OLD ARE YOU?
• Response:
• This question is about the age of our potential
audience. No 12-15 year olds answered the
questionnaire. Over 30% of people that
answered the survey were between the ages of
16-18 this shows that my potential audience is
quite young and that pop music appeals to
them and that the music video should appeal to
them. Less than 10% were between the ages of
19-24 this shows that they were less interested
over 30% were between the ages of 25-39 this
also shows that the music video and adverts
should appeal to them so my target audience
can be target properly and 30% where over 40
this is the 3rd highest percentage behind 16-18
and 25-39 so this age range should be targeted
less but is still important.
3. WHAT IS YOUR JOB?
• Response:
The majority of people that took the survey had a job that has a socio-economic
grade of C1 which include supervisory, clerical, junior managerial, administrative
and professional jobs. This shows that our target audience has a sustainable job
and has a steady income and are of middle class, and could even have kids.
Having said this our target audience may even be young first time workers that
could afford our digipak. The other participants that answered the questions were
students or people with part time jobs. This means they have a socio-economic
grade of E; these people don’t have a lot of money but students with part time
jobs may have a lot of disposable income to buy our digipak with. This also shows
that we will need to make sure our promotional material and digipak appeal to
these people.
4. HOW DO YOU CONSUME MUSIC?
• Response:
Close to 70% of people asked consumed music via the radio,
this could be in their car, by using a handheld radio or by a
radio app on their phone this shows that the radio is still a big
way people consume music and find out about it, this could
effect how the digipak is marketed and that it should be played
on the radio because it reaches a big audience of all ages.
Around 55% of people consumed music by streaming it or by
CD’s, this shows that the digipak will need to be marketed well
and that telling people that the CD is available on streaming
services like Spotify and available to buy in a digipak physical
form or by digital download. Thus increasing our marketing
range. Just over 50% of people used YouTube to consume
music this shows that YouTube is a good way to promote the
music video and that it will reach a large audience and just
over 30% of people consumed music by downloading it online
and 10% of people consumed it in another way.
5. WHY DO YOU LISTEN MUSIC?
• Response:
The response we got back for this question was that most of the
people who answered said because they want to/helps them
relax and unwind. This tells us that many people who are within
our target audience range listen to music because it could help
deal with stress from school etc. It also tells us that as it
something they are choosing to do, that they enjoy it.
6. HAS LISTENING TO POP MUSIC
AFFECTED YOUR LIFE?
• Response:
The majority of people that answered the survey said that pop
music had no affect on their life unless the song was memorable
to them in someway and they remembered the song with a
moment in their life like a music festival. Other people said that
music improved there mood or changed it.
7. WHAT MAKES A GOOD POP SONG/VIDEO?
• Response:
This question asked what they felt made a good pop song / video. The
replies varied but people said that the video and song should be
creative and catchy. They also said that the video should have more to
it and not just be the same old performance video as that is boring and
not that creative, this shows that the video should have a narrative in it
and we could make the video a narrative performance video so it is
more creative and interesting. They also said that the artist should
appear and have a good appearance that isn't intimidating and is nice.
We will have to take all of this into account when making our video so
it appeals to our target audience.
8. WHAT MAKES A BAD POP SONG / VIDEO?
• Response:
This question asked what they felt made a bad pop video / song.
They said that bad lyrics and a bad tune made the video
unenjoyable. They also said if the video was boring and too
repetitive they didn’t like the video and they also disliked it if
there was no story. We will have to take all of this into account
when making our video so it appeals to our target audience.
9. DO YOU USE NETFLIX / AMAZON
PRIME?
• Response:
Close to 65% of people asked in
the questionnaire said they used a
service like Netflix or Amazon
with around 35% saying they
didn’t use Netflix or amazon. This
shows that our target audience
uses these services and that they
are interested in film and
technology.
10. DO YOU USE FACEBOOK / TWITTER?
• Response:
Around 90% of people said they used
a social media site like Facebook or
twitter and only 10% of people saying
they didn’t use Facebook or twitter.
This shows that our audience uses
these sites a lot and almost all of
them do. It will be important for us to
promote our digipak and advertise it
on social media sites because it can
be seen by so many people.
