PERSONAL VALUES ASSESSMENT
• The Personal Values Assessment is a simple survey
that takes just a few minutes of your time and
provides a wealth of information about why you do
what you do.
• Please, visit the following link and fill out your own
Personal Values Self-Assessment:
https://survey.valuescentre.com/survey.html?
id=s1TAEQUStmx-pUIle-ma6Q

VALUES-BASED LEADERSHIP
The road to being an authentic and values-based
leader starts with knowing own values, continues
with “aligning behaviour with personal values, and
constantly self-monitoring to ensure consistency”.
Such consistency “results in a transparency of
moral outlook that will inspire followers, first to
have confidence in a leader’s ability and motives”
(Kouzes and Posner, 2002) and second, “to
develop authenticity in their own actions”. (Luthans
and Avolio, 2003).”

WHAT ARE VALUES?
“According to sociologists values are:
“The ideals and customs of a group toward which the
people have an effective regard.”
I prefer to define values in a more pragmatic way:
“Values are the energetic drivers of our aspirations and
intentions.”
― Richard Barrett, Barrett Value Centre

research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 643330
EudaimoniaSolutions©-Zurich|Sofia
WHAT ARE VALUES?- continued
• “Our values reflect what is important to us. They are
a shorthand way of describing our individual and
collective motivations. Together with beliefs, they are
the causal factors that drive our decision-making.”
• “Who you are as a leader—the values you embrace,
and the beliefs you hold— is automatically
transmitted to the group you are responsible for
through your words, behaviors and actions.”
― Richard Barrett, Barrett Value Centre

POSITIVE OR POTENTIALLY LIMITING
Values can be positive, which support our growth and
development or potentially limiting, which hinder it.
• Examples of positive values: Trust, Collaboration,
Creativity, Passion, Honesty, Integrity
• Examples of potentially limiting values: Power,
Blame, Greed, Bureaucracy, Status-seeking, Being
Liked, Caution, Control

PERSONAL ENTROPY
Personal entropy is the amount of fear-driven energy
that a person expresses in his or her day-to-day
interactions. Fear-driven energy arises from the
conscious and subconscious fear-based beliefs (limiting
beliefs) that people have about meeting their deficiency
needs.

THE SEVEN LEVELS OF PERSONAL
CONSCIOUSNESS
Every human being on the planet evolves and grows in
consciousness in seven well defined stages. Each stage
focuses on a particular existential need that is common to
the human condition. These seven existential needs are the
principal motivating forces in all human affairs.

A NEW LEVEL OF CONSCIOUSNESS
A new level of thinking requires a new level of
consciousness. We cannot solve our problems
with the same way of thinking that created
them.

INDIVIDUAL EXERCISE
• Please, decide which is the level that most
represents where you are in your life today as a
person.
– Think why you are at that level. What is going on right now
in your life?
– How do you feel at this moment of your life?
• How could you support your future development?
– Is there something that hinders your development?
– Who or what could nurture and support your development?
– How else could you encourage your development?

FULL-SPECTRUM LEADERSHIP
An authentic, full spectrum leader must understand and
master his or her personal dynamics, as well as the
dynamics of the organization or team he or she leads.
Leading yourself and leading others is not the same
thing. You must be able to lead yourself before you can
effectively lead others. Leading an organization is even
more demanding and requires an additional set of
competencies and skills than leading yourself and
leading others.
Full spectrum leaders display all the attributes of
the Seven Levels of Leadership Consciousness.

INDIVIDUAL EXERCISE
This is a quick self-assessment exercise to
evaluate your own leadership and see how it
aligns with the Seven Levels of Leadership.
You could also ask someone else to assess
you, and see if your scores are in alignment.:

RECALLING YOUR GREATNESS
“To recall your personal greatness, you need to start
the process of chipping away everything that is not truly
you.
• The fears you have picked up.
• The limiting beliefs you have accumulated.
• The false assumptions that divorce you from your
most authentic - and staggeringly brilliant - self.”
― Robin Sharma

INDIVIDUAL EXERCISE
Now that you have conducted self-assessments
and have read the articles, please reflect upon the
following questions and write in your notebook your
answers:
• What did you learn about yourself?
• What will happen if you change nothing?
• What is it you really want?
• Why do you want it?
• What are you going to do next?
