This document describes an automatic star-delta starter for a 3-phase induction motor using relays and an adjustable electronic timer. The starter connects the motor windings in either star or delta configuration to reduce starting current. It uses relays controlled by a microcontroller timer to switch between configurations, keeping starting current low by operating in star mode for 3 seconds before switching to delta mode. This protects the motor from high inrush currents while allowing full-load current once started. Experimental results show that lamps connected to represent the motor windings glow dimly in star mode and brightly in delta mode, demonstrating the change in current flow successfully.
