AWS had a strong Q1 2019 with revenue from AWS increasing 45% year-over-year to $7.4 billion. AWS now offers over 165 services globally across 21 regions, 66 availability zones, and over 165 points of presence. New services introduced included AWS Backup, Amazon DocumentDB, AWS Deep Learning Containers, Amazon WorkLink, AWS App Mesh, and five new Amazon EC2 bare metal instances. Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive is now generally available providing low-cost long-term data archiving.

AWS Growth • Q4 2018 revenue for the AWS segment increased 45% y/y to $7.4 billion making AWS a nearly $30 billion dollar run rate business. • Amazon S3 holds trillions of objects and regularly peaks at millions of requests per second. • AWS Fargate runs tens of millions of containers for customer every week. • More than 10,000 customers are using SageMaker and Amazon Redshift. • Amazon’s internal DynamoDB usage exceeds 10 trillions of requests per day, peaking at over 20 million requests per second.
