What’s so “batty”?Bats – chosen because of the nature of the projects that will be done – “FLYING BLIND”.Bats are guided by a echo. FEEDBACK is IMPORTANT. Bat Cave: StructureUnder Bat Cave, Center of Excellence has “hills” and each hill has a leader called -“Hill Keeper”Hill Keeper is in charge of the hill for maximum of two quarters. Hill keeper must either close the hill or chose to pass the baton to someone else. Hill trading is allowed once.Health of the hill is determined by number of “caves” in the hill. Bat Cave: StructureCave = CoE ProjectCave is owned by a BAT. Codenamed – “Bat Brain”.For a hill to remain standing, there should be at least one active cave. Bat Cave: StructureHills are evaluated byNumber of projects initiatedSuccess Ratio = (Successfully Completed/Initiated)CoE points earned based on participation and completion.Bonus CoE points based on how the project learning was applied to gain more business. Bat Cave: Project TypesThree types of Projects:Black Bat Projects – Certification Project.Green Bat Project – Process Improvement/Metric Development.Blue Bat Project – Technology/Proof of Concept Project.Projects under Bat Cave run from 7 – 14 weeks.Other long terms projects can initiated by CoE, but will be outside the Bat Cave framework.8© Copyright 2010 Emjive Consulting LLC
Bat Cave: Black Bat ProjectBlack Bat ProjectCertification ProjectPrimarily initiated by Hill Master for vendor partnership.Request for certification may be initiated by individual for approval by the Hill Master.Volunteers requested for these projects.Responders earn CoE points upon selection.9© Copyright 2010 Emjive Consulting LLC
Bat Cave: Black Bat ProjectProcessMaximum Duration: 35 working days = (1+6 weeks)DeliverablesCertification from the vendor/certifying authority.Weekly Blog from Week 1 describing the learning process and learning resources used.Write up – Tips and Tricks for the exam. Bat Cave: Green/Blue ProjectPlanning and TrackingAll caves evaluated for “kill”, every two weeks.Result of “kill” evaluation are public record.Measurable Goals:Weekly Blogs briefing about the state of the project, from second week of the project start.Working and demonstrable product/Draft process available every two weeks starting at end of fourth week.Kill evaluation to look for end deliverable starting from Week 9 (Blue) and Week 7 (Black) of the project.Green Bat Project: Must have signed up at least one project to use process/metric by end of Week 10.21© Copyright 2010 Emjive Consulting LLC
