“Behaviorists define learning as the acquisition of new behavior. They believe that behavior is
acquired in response to the environment. According to B. F. Skinner (1904-1990), behavior is
contingent on consequences and can be controlled through the use of operant conditioning (i.e.,
a feedback system). In particular, positive reinforcement (e.g., reward or praise) leads to the
increase of desirable behavior. Negative reinforcement strengthens desirable behavior through
the avoidance of negative consequences. To the contrary, punishment decreases the
occurrence of undesirable behavior.”
Bandura, A. (1977). Social learning theory. New York: General Learning Press.
Identify 5 Educational Behavioral Apps
1. Kahoot- We can quiz the students and test their knowledge on the current subject we are
studying.
2. ClassDojo- Records the behavior of the students and acts as motivation for the students to
do better.
3. Plicker- If you teach a class of students who do not have their own mobile devices, then
Plickers is a great alternative. It allows teachers to conduct formative assessments using coded
cards, the only mobile device needed is the teacher’s own smartphone or tablet.
4. Edmodo- This app is designed to give you control over your digital classroom.
5. Go Noodle- An app that allows students to participate in recess in the classroom with levels
that increase in difficulty and length.
