Confcooperative represents 8 national federations in Italy with 19,657 associated cooperatives employing 480,253 people and serving 2,878,362 members. Renewable energy has been identified as the key priority for the next three years. Confcooperative is involved in policy coordination with Italian institutions and provides internal instruments like financing and education to cooperatives in the energy sector. An experiment aims to match energy demand and supply by offering Confcooperative's 3,716 agriculture and agri-food cooperatives the opportunity to invest in renewable energy production to supplement their income.
