• #2: Hello I am Katie Barker and I am going to be talking to you about the best practices in presentation design and delivery.
• #4: Your design of your presentation needs to stay simple. If its not simple you will distract away from what the point of your words are, and people will be too focused on your presentation to listen to you talk.
• #5: Use one picture to make your point, its less distracting and gives your audiences something to relate your point too. Make sure you are using high quality pictures, it makes you look more professional.
• #6: Use colors! Use good pictures! Make sure you're slides are complementing each other. You need to make sure your audience sees it and knows exactly what it means.
• #7: Be an original make up your own theme. Try not to use the PowerPoint templates. The audience has seen them many times before and they want to see original images.
• #8: If you need to use charts, keep them easy. Unless you know with certainty, you should assume that your audience is not experienced with your topic and you need to help them to understand what you mean to the best of your ability, and if that means making charts easier then do that!
• #9: Be Careful of copyrights when selecting pictures. You need to play it safe, and always make sure you're using something legally, and giving all the right attributions to its owner.
• #10: When using features on power point its easy to get carried away with cook features. But you need to keep things simple, don’t put in too many distractions to take away from your presentation.
• #11: Make sure it all flows. You want to piece together every part of your presnetation, so you don’t loose your audience along the way!
• #12: Your delivery of a presentation is what is going to make others think its good. If you're not enjoying yourself. And passionate about what you're presenting, no one else will be either.
• #13: You need to start off right. Come off bold, command the attention of every person in the room.
• #14: In any aspect of life your voice is your biggest asset. Especially when you're trying to get people to listen to you. Use it loud and proud or no ones going to know what you expect them to learn.
• #15: Eye contact, you can have note cards, but make sure you're looking up and connecting with your audience it will make them more into it. Remember you should be talking not reading!
• #16: Handouts will help to explain key points in your presentation, they also give your audience something to literally take away from it, so they can think about it later.
• #17: Your design comes next after your delivery, your power point is the wing man to your words. It needs to be eye-catching, and helpful to remember, but not take away from what you're saying.
• #18: Get to the point of what you’re trying to share, maybe your audience is willingly there, but if they aren’t make them very grateful that they are. They don’t want you here you beat around the bush. Tell them exactly what you want them to know.
• #19: Include your audience in your presentation as much as possible, make each person feel like they're contributing and it matters that they're their, they will remember it that much more.
• #20: The last true thing needed in delivery is rehearsal. The more you practice your presentation the more prepared you will be to give it.
