Strategies for Incorporating Collaborative Groups and Processing Time into Presentations Best Practices Within Promethean
Overview Using Promethean technology to create lessons is a great way to enhance student learning. Graphics, videos and text can all be used to increase content objectives. However, often times when using a new presentation software we forget that good teaching strategies can be incorporated into the presentations. Presentation software does not mean lecture software. Overview 2 Use the following Module to learn possible ways to incorporate processing time or collaborative groups within your Promethean Board presentations. Menu Collaborative Groups Processing Time
Collaborative Groups Allowing students a chance to work together as a group can enhance learning and improve important social skills needed for the world today. There are several easy ways to incorporate group work into your presentations. Menu Collaborative Groups Processing Time
Collaborative Groups 2 Consider using groups as a part of a warm-up or activator. Welcome Students. At your table groups you will find a blank sheet of paper and three markers. Spend the next five minutes drawing a labeled picture of a cell. Menu Collaborative Groups Processing Time
Collaborative Groups 3 Use groups as part of a jigsaw activity within your presentation. Next, you and your group will get 20 minutes to use your textbook and the presentation we just viewed to create a chart that describes the following topic. Processing Time Often teachers rush through presentations and forget to allow the information to sink in.  For every 10 minutes of new information presented you should provide 2 minutes of processing time. Menu Collaborative Groups Processing Time
Processing Time 2 Add reminders into your presentations that will remind both you and your students to slow down.  Summary: Ancient Civilizations all relied heavily on the use of the natural environment. The most important feature being access to clean water from rivers. Processing Time 3 Or you can use a more specific type of processing within your presentation like a Think Pair Share. We have just learned a lot of information. Let’s take some time to think about it.  Think - Spend the next 35 seconds thinking about what the most important part of our lesson was.
