Document Name: E500 – Polycom PVX Software Revision: PA2 Introduction: This document describes how to install the Polycom PVX video conferencing software and set it up to work with the Thrane & Thrane EXPLORER™500 BGAN Terminal. The remote Polycom PVX video conferencing software was installed on a laptop with a webcam and was connected directly to the EXPLORER™500 LAN Interface using an Ethernet cable. The EXPLORER™500 was set in Modem (bridge) mode in order to be able to dial up to the remote system. In Modem mode the BGAN system will through the EXPLORER™500 issue a public IP address to the remote PC having the Polycom PVX video conferencing software installed. - 4. Polycom Configuration The Polycom VSX 7000 in the office was connected to an ADSL line with static global IP address. The ADSL at the office site: line provider gave following network parameters for the ADSL line: Static IP address: 213.83.151.22 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.224 Default Gateway: 213.83.151.1 DNS: 212.88.64.14 Polycom PVX Software No special need for configuration. The Polycom PVX software automatically detects the IP address of the PC Configuration: and the installed Webcam. For special purposes the Polycom PVX software can be configured with enhanced video quality and network setup, e.g behind Firewall etc. EXPLORER™500 The EXPLORER™500 must be configured to Modem Mode (same as bridge mode) and select the service Configuration: needed for the video conference. Either Streaming IP (Premium Data, where you pay per minute) or Standard Data (where you pay per megabyte). Furthermore the EXPLORER™500 can be configured to use the Static IP of the SIM card if supported. Static IP is needed if the office should be able to call up the remote Polycom PVX software. These settings can be done from the built-in web server in the EXPLORER™500. Now connect the EXPLORER™500 to the PC with an Ethernet cable. Switch on the EXPLORER™500 and PC. Wait for the PC to receive its IP address from the EXPLORER™500. Start the Polycom PVX software application and then start a video conference.
