IDEAS FOR RAISING MY SELF-ESTEEM
Read the following ideas for raising your self-esteem. Discuss each
suggestion with the group. Check one or two ideas you decide to
practice during the week.
 Learn to ask for what you want.
 Before going to sleep at night, think three positive thoughts about
yourself.
 Look in the mirror first thing every morning and think of three things
you like about yourself.
 Write down two things you’d like to change about yourself and then set
a goal.
 Tell the truth to yourself as well as to others.
 Don’t associate with people who are negative and complain about
everything and anything.
 Don’t speak ill of anyone or yourself.

THE IMPORTANT THINGS
The important things, the golf balls, – your family, your children, your health,
your friends, your favorite possessions, God – things that if everything else
was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles of your life are the other things that matter like your job, your
house, and your car. The sand in your life is everything else — the small
stuff.
If you put sand into a jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or golf balls. The
same goes for life. If you spend all of your time and energy on the small
stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your
children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner.
Play another 18 holes. There will always be time to clean the house and fix
the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set
your priorities. The rest is just sand.
