BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTIONS Jaclyn Risi
Binomial A binomial problem is a yes or no question The Binomial Probability Formula is P(x)= n C x P What is a Binomial What is the Binomial Formula
The Problem Thirty-four percent of people in the United States have type A+ blood. You randomly select 30 people in the United States and ask them if their blood type is A+. A) Find the probability that exactly 12 people say they have A+ blood. B) Find the probability that at least 12 people say they have A+ blood. C) Find the probability that fewer than 12 people say they have A+ blood.
To Solve To solve the first problem you have to find the probability, number of trials, and the numbers also if cumulative. For the first one p(A+) = .34 .34 is the probability of success. X = 12 X is 12 because it is the number of trials N = 30 N is 30 because it is the number of people
To Solve Continued… To find the answer for the first one you look it up the chart or go to excel and type in =BINOMDIST(12,30,0.34,FALSE) to the first box and find your answer To find the second answer you do the same thing but instead of false you put true. On the third one you leave the false in and instead of 12 you put in 11
The Answers The first answer is 0.116552055 or 11.65% The second answer is 0.813478758 or 81.34% The third answer is 0.142893541 or 14.28%
