 Facebook is a large-scale enterprise
which popular among quite a large
number of people. No doubt, billions
of the messages are sent and stories
are shared through the services
provided by this company. The
Facebook company is worth
searching for it is with a large
platform for social community. This
report aims to find out the history,
the company products and the
company culture of Facebook, which
provides us with a general idea of
the Facebook company.

INTROD
UCTION
 Facebook is one of the biggest companies around the world at
present and the products of this company empower more
than 3 billion people to offer help, get ideas and even make a
difference. (Facebook, 2021) Mark Zuckerberg who is the
founder of Facebook took his steps of path early. He created
an incredibly program called ZuckNet which laid a
foundation for his further study on the way of setting up
Facebook. During his study in Harvard university,
Zuckerberg set up the facebook launch but was only open to
people with a Harvard email address. After the cooperation
with his fellows Cameron, Tyler and Divya. Finally, the
company Facebook got started at the year 2004.

it to have many other products, such as Instagram,
WhatsApp and Oculus VR. In the year 2004, Facebook is
only used during the university students and then it expanded
and became a flatform which can be used by more and more
people. In the year 2012, this company got the app Instagram
which has an independent platform. Then, Facebook company
seized the opportunity to buy the two company WhatsApp
and Oculus VR which are both successful nowadays.
(Facebook, 2021) Until now, Facebook is really a prestigious
company and owns quite a large number of employees and
business branches worldwide.

 Instagram
 Instagram is a photo-sharing app with social
community built on it, which can make people
exchange their ideas about one photo and can see the
pictures others share around the world. For the use of
social sharing, this app attracts many people’s
attention and people like to use this app as a daily
choice. Instagram which is developed by Facebook is a
great success, and it becomes the fastest growing social
media platform nowadays. Also, it has over 1 billion
users worldwide and 60% users log in this app daily to
share their special moment during the day. Besides
photos can be shown, video function is also added to
this app. People who use Instagram think it really
build a more personal connection with other users and
can get to know more friends. Facebook build this app
independently from the main platform they own which
reflects Facebook’s willingness to pay a premium for
the young companies. (Wordtracker, 2018)

 WhatsApp is one of the most popular text and voice
messaging apps around the world nowadays. This
platform was launched in 2009 as a low-cost alternative to
standard text messaging services. WhatsApp has several
uses which are welcomed by most people, such as free
international calls, easy chatting and calling over most
platform. Facebook bought WhatsApp when they saw that
company boasted more than 400 million users active
monthly, which makes it clear that WhatsApp is a fast-
growing potential rival to Facebook’s platform. WhatsApp
is easy to use, and it can let us create work, friends or
family groups to communication with up to 256
participants. Also, we can block contacts from within the
app and send GPS location to an interactive map. (Jackie
Dove, 2020)

 Oculus VR is a virtual reality technology company. Facebook bought this company
at the acquisition cost of around $2 billion. This company was founded in 2012
and was known for its Oculus Rift product which was designed for video gaming.
The purchase of Facebook gave this company an instant presence to develop in the
virtual reality market. (Reiff, 2020)

 The company culture
 In Facebook, supporting the employees is a core part of what they
should do. Employees get supported from the higher managers, they
will no doubt get motivated and devote themselves to the company.
(Facebook, 2020) Besides, Facebook also focuses on empowering their
staffs to get their ideas as to get generous benefits to their robust
diversity programs. People can generally build their social value
during their experience in the Facebook. Even more, Facebook is also a
self-starter culture which means employees are not told what to do
until they achieve themselves. However, some people argue for
Facebook’s company culture about that it is “authentic self”. They say
this because some major decisions are still made by company’s
leadership and employees are discouraged from voicing. (Rodriguez,
2019)
 The company organizational culture
 Facebook applies its organizational culture as a tool to support
business resilience and competitiveness. The organizational culture
can be seen as five parts which is: creative problem solving and be bold
and open, to have speed fast and make improvement continuously.
From these notable characteristics, human resources in this company
get promoted and maintain, therefore, the creativity and innovation
for Facebook’s social media business. (Agoro, 2020)

 The Facebook company was set up by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. At first, it
concentrated on providing social community space for the students in the
universities and then it provided the service to people all around the
world. This is a large-scale business for Facebook provides quite a large
number of work positions to people. By the end of 2019, there are 44942
full-time employees in the social network department only of Facebook.
(statista, 2020) The Facebook company not only provide a platform for
people to share and exchange their ideas with people in other countries. It
also has some other products like Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus VR,
which provide a range of services to get people closer and involved.
Besides the products and service Facebook provided, this company is also
known for its company culture. Being democratic and giving space for
employees to make their ideas are what Facebook are chasing. The
company atmosphere is warm and friendly. Successful as the Facebook
company is, this enterprise also faces some obstacles to overcome such as
the competitors on the path to expand the company. In all, Facebook is a
company welcomed by most people.
