What is Bloom’s Taxonomy?
WHY IS A NEW APPROACH IMPORTANT IN THE
EDUCATION SYSTEM?
The traditional structure of the educational system, which
has been in use for the longest time, has proven to be less
effective.
Moreover, years of monotonous and uninspired blackboard
teaching do not add value to education, hence a new
approach is important.
2
WHAT IS BLOOM’S TAXONOMY?
Bloom’s Taxonomy is a framework for
classifying educational goals, it was designed
to define and differentiate between different
levels of human cognition.
3
4
LEVELS OF BLOOM’S TAXONOMY
Bloom’s Taxonomy is divided into the following level of
objectives
● Knowledge
● Comprehension
● Application
● Analysis
● Synthesis
● Evaluation
5
6
KNOWLEDGE:
It indicates the ability to recognize and remember facts, terms and
summaries of basic concepts.
It also involves recalling of methods, processes, structure or
setting of something.
COMPREHENSION:
The ability to have an understanding of whatever is being
communicated by organizing the ideas and facts in the mind.
.
7
APPLICATION:
Refers to the acquired knowledge of the learner to solve any
particular problem.
ANALYSIS:
Related to the ability to breakdown the information into bits and
pieces, trying to figure out the cause of something.
.
8
SYNTHESIS:
It is the ability to build something from scratch creating, designing,
inventing and developing something from different elements
EVALUATION:
The ability to defend and present a point of view by making
relevant arguments in regard to a particular concept.
.
BENEFITS OF BLOOM’S TAXONOMY
Bloom’s Taxonomy is a framework that helps educators to

learning of the students
● Develop content and questionnaires for personalized
teaching-learning
● Track & map student learning progress over a period
● Prepare students to be a life-long learners & innovate
new things
10
HOW TO USE BLOOM’S TAXONOMY?
Frame questions that are in sync with each of the
components of taxonomy, and keep in mind that these
questions should be different and unique.
Such as:
● Define the reason behind the failure of the mission?
(Knowledge)
● Compare and contrast the experience of both
individuals? (Comprehension)
11
BENEFITS OF BLOOM’S TAXONOMY
Other questions that can be included are-
● Demonstrate the overall experience of the man?
● Differentiate between the main features of both the
cars?
12
