are reports which state that the practise was stopped indirectly
because of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaaenge the Aditya Chopra movie.
Now back in 2014, the thing happened again at Star Parivaar Awards,
an award function which honoured TV shows and movies. The thing
happened in a very different context, but still came a shock for many
people.

X is an Indian author and former investigative journalist. X's began his
career in journalism while working for the newspaper The Asian Age,
where he became the Resident Editor. He later worked for several
other periodicals, including The Indian Express, Mid Day and Mumbai
Mirror. His in-depth research on the Mumbai mafia has been
used[clarification needed] by international authors like Misha Glenny
in McMafia and Vikram Chandra in his book Sacred Games. He was
once kidnapped in Iraq. He has covered the Mumbai mafia for several
decades. .His works include Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the
Mumbai Mafia, Mafia Queens of Mumbai, and My Name is Abu Salem.
His three books were the inspiration behind three Indian movies, one
was released in 2007(the movie had the same name as the book)
while the other in 2013(was kind of a sequel) and 2015 respectively.

Ironically enough, both the films were released on the same day and unlike
today, when such a thing would be unimaginable, the thought of eating into
each other's collections never crossed their minds. At the time of its release,
X was more in the spotlight and the sheer canvas of the film had catapulted
it to a different league even during the pre-release stage. On the other hand,
the Anil Sharma directed Y was being seen as just another release.
Moreover, no one had expected Y to be such a colossal hit or strike a chord
with audiences across India. But once it caught on, the film went on to
become the most watched Hindi film in India. Contrary to what many
believed, both the films not only survived each other but also fueled the
other's market. If X's finesse won it laurels, Y's passion bestowed everlasting
glory and in the end audiences saw both many times over.
As a matter of fact, X-Y wasn't the first occasion when films featuring those
two actors were released on the same day. 12 years before the release of
their biggest hits up until that point, both Dil (1990) and Lagaan (1990), too,
released on the same day and both ended up practically resurrecting their
careers.

A television commercial named X fight against Dengue was made by
Minister of Health and Family Welfare (India) in 2016. It was made to
create awareness of Dengue. They brought back a very iconic
character pair onscreen after a gap of 10 years, the characters were
not played by the original actors.
According to the director, the pair will be officially back onscreen in
2018. They were supposed to come on screen around 2010 and even
a promo was shot but due to problems in the script and other issues
it was postponed.

Laxmikant Pyarelal. The controversy around the central lyrics of the
song throws light on the ways in which censorship works to curtail
the scope for sexual rights. While for many the representation of
women was at the heart of the matter, what provoked much debate
was the verbal erotic exchange between two women in the course of
the song. Feminists among themselves were divided on whether the
imagery was pornographic or liberating.
The song was sung by Alka Yagnik and Ila Arun, and is the only
instance when two female singers shared the Filmfare Award for Best
Female Playback Singer. The song was the part of the highest
