Week 1
Construction Activity 1: SETTING OUT
DURATION: 8 Days
EQUIPMENTS:
1. Backhoe
2. Bulldozer
3. Excavator
SKILLED WORKERS:

2. 3 Equipment Operators
3. 1 Excavation Foreman
4. 1 Ground Leveling Staff
5. 3 Contractors
6. 1 Plumber
7. 1 Electrician
8. 1 Carpenter
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Before earthworks, the planned building is set out.
 Building profiles and the use of string lines to mark the outside perimeters of the
construction and any other critical measurements. One of the most important things
in setting out is position and accuracy in which the hurdles are placed .
 Excavations will proceed and plumbers will be able to install the underground
plumbing.
 Electricians will be able to install the meter box and any pre-wires necessary.
 Carpenters may also use these set out lines to begin framing on the construction.
 Levels have to be set out based on benchmarks in the surroundings. Geometric
surveying measures the difference in height of a horizontally set up level from a
benchmark with levelling staff held vertically.
