Data collection is the process of gathering
and measuring information and targeted
variables in an established system , which
then enables one to answer relevant
questions and evaluate outcomes
WHAT IS DATA COLLECTION ?

1. Primary Data:- Primary Data are those which
are collected a Fresh and for the First time and
thus happen to be original in character and
known as Primary Data.
2. Secondary Data:- Secondary Data are those
which have been Collected by someone else and
which have already been passed through the
statistical process are known as secondary Data.

METHODS OF PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION
METHOD

1. Observation Method :- Observation Method is a method
under which data from the field is collected with the help
of observation by the observer or by personally going to
the field.
2. Interview Method :- This is oral verbal communication ,
where interviewer asks questions which are aimed to get
information required for study .
3. Experiments :- As a researcher or observer change some
variables and observe their effect on other variables.
METHODS OF PRIMARY DATA

4. Questionaries :- Questionaries is as
instrument for research , which consist
of a list of questions along with the
choice of answers, printed or typed in a
sequence.
5. Scheduled :- This is the tool or
instrument used to collect data from the
respondents while interview is
conducted.
6. Surveys :- A survey is method used for
collecting data from a predefined group
of respondents to gain information and
insights into various topics of interest .

1. Publications of central , state , local
government.
2. Technical and Trade journals.
3. Book, Magzines and Newspaper.
4. Report by research scholars , universities
and economist.
5. Public Records .
SECONDARY DATA

Reliability of Data :- Who, When , Which methods at
What time etc.
Suitability of Data :- object , scope , and nature of
original inquiry should be studied .
Adequacy of Data :- Level of accuracy, area of
differences then data is not adequate for study.
