This document discusses open access and how researchers can make their work openly accessible through either the green or gold route. It provides instructions for uploading publications to the University's open access repository, IRIS. Researchers can authorize others to deposit works for them or send publication files to the library directly. The library staff will then check copyright and make the works available in the repository or create bibliographic entries depending on publisher policies. Questions about open access for researchers funded by the Research Councils UK are also addressed.

- 5. How to upload your publication via IRIS • Log on to IRIS (https://iris.le.ac.uk/login.html) • Find your publication’s record or create a new record for it. • Upload the full text of the publication and grant the license for our repository.
- 9. Getting others to deposit for you… • If you have an IRIS account: – authorise others to deposit publications for you • Email your publication to lra@le.ac.uk – You can use a secure file sharing service too • Bring your file into the library for the LRA team
- 10. After you’ve provided the file… • We will check the copyright policy of the publisher and then do one of these: – Make your publication available in the LRA. – Make your publication available after the publisher embargo period. – Create a bibliographic only entry. • We will contact you once your publication details are available in the LRA.
