- 1. Skins essay – Camera shotsThere are lots of different camera shots in skins that show a lot of different things. One of these is where Tony is walking to meet Sid and he is on the phone to 4 different people, the shot used here is a tracking shot which is used to follow people and show this kind of idea. The way it is used in this scene is that it follows Tony to show that his character is always on the go and moving about to sort things, it also shows that he is somewhat of a leader because the camera follows him and not his friends that he is talking to.Another camera shot used is a pan shot. This is used when Tony is at the school singing. The scene starts where all you can here is someone singing and then the camera slowly pans across to show that the voice is actually Tony singing, this shot is used so that it will act as a shock to us as Tony has been portrayed as some sort of ladies man who is an alpha-male and then you see him singing. However after this the camera cuts to show that he actually impresses all the girls because the camera then pans again to show that all 20+ of the girls are giggling and smiling, so this shot shows that even though me does other things everyone loves Tony.There is another scene where it shows Sid stood there on this nice posh estate and then it shows Sid looking scruffy to make the estate seem even nicer. It then pans across to show all these lovely houses and then it gets to one with bars all over the windows and doors, this shows that this house is going to be a bad experience for Sid or that this is some sort of house that should be avoided.The scene where everyone has just fallen into the river has a tracking shot when the group are on their ways home. In this scene the camera follows the group as they are walking down the street, this is used to show that even though they all argue they are still a group and they all still care about each other because even after all things going wrong they stick together. It also then stops tracking them and it has a camera tilt on Sid, it does this to show what a state he is in because as it tilts you see Sid drenched wet and then he wrings his hat to get all the water out of it. This shows us that they are all going to get themselves into certain situations over the series
