Methodist University needed a new emergency notification system to improve safety on its rural 617-acre campus with 51 buildings. The previous system struggled to send timely emails, phone calls, and sirens during emergencies due to infrastructure limitations. The new Alertus emergency notification system deployed beacons in buildings, mobile apps, desktop notifications, digital signage, speakers, and panic buttons to broadcast alerts across campus. Students have embraced the mobile app, improving personal notification coverage. Regular testing has shown the Alertus system is ready to effectively notify the campus community in any emergency situation.
