All life depends on plants, which provide food, clothing, medicine, shelter, and oxygen. However, many plant species are disappearing at an alarming rate, with over 34,000 predicted to be lost by mid-century worldwide and 29% of US plant species endangered. The Chicago Botanic Garden is working to address this crisis through research, education, and conservation efforts to save plants and increase understanding of threats in order to protect this foundation of life and find cures. With support, the Garden can expand its facilities and programs to have an even greater impact on global plant conservation.
