Term – II
Time: 3 hrs. MM: 90
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
i) The question paper comprises of two sections, A and B, You are to attempt both the
sections.
ii) All questions are compulsory.
iii) There is no overall choice. However internal choice has been provided in all the five
questions of five marks category. Only one option in such questions is to be
attempted.
iv) All questions of section A and all questions of section B are to be attempted
separately.
v) Questions numbers 1 to 3 in section A are one mark questions. These are to be
answered in one word or one sentence.
vi) Question numbers 4 to 7 are two marks, to be answered in about 30 words each.
vii) Question numbers 8 to 19 are three mark questions, to be answered in about 50
words each.
viii) Questions numbers 20 to 24 are five mark questions, to be answered in about 70
words each.
ix) Question numbers 25 to 42 in section B are multiple choice questions based on
practical skills. Each question is a one ark question. You are to choose one most
appropriate response out of the four provided to you.

SECTION – A
1. Gram seeds are soaked in water and upon becoming tender; they split into two equal
halves. State the name of these two halves.
2. State one cause of the depletion of ozone layer.
3. Which animal tissue is commonly known as packaging tissue?
4. What is relative density?
If an object is immersed wholly in a liquid causing up-thrust equal to the weight of the body
then what will be the relation between the relative densities of liquid and the object?
5. State the wave property that determines ‘pitch’ of sound.
6. State in tabular form the method of transmission of each of the following diseases.
(a) Cholera
(b) HIV-AIDS
(c) Malaria
(d) Pneumonia
7. State the factors on which work done depends.
8. (a) Calculate the molar mass of S8.
(b) Convert into mole: i) 12 gram of oxygen gas
ii) 32 gram of oxygen molecule.
9. Explain the salient features of Phylum Mollusca.

10. Composition of the nuclei of two atomic species A and B are given below:

12. Write two properties each of a solution, suspension and a colloid with respect to stability
and filterability.
13. Why bryophytes are called the amphibians of the plant kingdom?
14. Define power. Derive SI unit. An electric bulb is rated 10W. What does it mean? What is the
energy consumed in joules if it is used for 5 minutes?
15. Suppose a man is trying to push a wall. But the wall doesn’t move. What is the amount of
work done? Calculate the amount of work done in lifting a body of mass 3 kg through a
distance of 11 meters.
16. What is symbiosis? Name a symbiotic life form. Mention the specific organisms which
display the symbiotic relationship in this life form.

17. Draw a neat diagram of the leaf epidermis showing pores through which exchange of gases
takes place. Label any two parts giving one function of each.
18. (a) What is audible range the average human ear?
(b) Explain how ultrasound is used to clean spiral tubes and electronic components.
19. State the meaning of 1 Pascal. A boy of mass 40 kg is standing on loose sand. If the area of
his feet is 0.04m2
calculate the pressure exerted by the boy on the sand. (g=10ms-2
)
20. Define the following terms and state their S.I. units:
(a) Wavelength
(b) Frequency
(c) Amplitude
Derive a relationship to show how the wavelength and frequency of a sound wave are
related to its speed.
OR
With the help of a simple diagram describe in brief how depth of seabed at a place is
determined by SONAR.
A SONAR device on a submarine sends out a signal and receives its echoes 3s later. If the speed
of sound waves in sea water is 1530 ms-1
find the depth of the seabed below the submarine.
