Advanced Practice InternshipField Education ExpectationsThree components of all field placements that students will need: To experience new learning At the graduate levelWith a new social work supervisor, who holds an MSW degree with a minimum of two-years full-time post-degree work experience, for the duration of the placement
  • 55. Field Education Options for Fields Placements/InternshipsInternal Rotation – students are to experience new learning with appropriate supervision elsewhere in the organization Secondment – students are seconded to a partnering agency for temporary assignment Leave of Absence – students take leave from current agency of employment to complete practicum in a new setting
  • 56. Field Education TermsField practicum tentatively scheduled for the following dates during the program (a minimum of 450-hour practicum for each) Advanced Practice Internship Dates: Sept. 2012 to Dec. 2012 Foundation Field Practicum Dates: Sept. 2012 to Dec. 2012You will complete the Advanced Practice Internship January 2014 to April 2014 (2 placements for regular track program)
  • 57. Communicating with your EmployerEnsure your employer has a clear understanding of what is required of a student in the MSW for Working ProfessionalsVery demanding scheduleStudents are required to be in class by 3:30 PM on class FridaysUnderstand when you are in your Internship/Practicum
  • 58. Employer AgreementThe Letter of Support template must indicate that your employer is willing to accommodate:You seated in class by 3:30 p.m. on class Fridays
  • 59. Take leave from current role within agency for the duration of the 13-week placement (FFP and/or API)
  • 60. Arrange an internal rotation, secondment or leave of absence for the term of the Field Practicum/Internship
