Arrive on time (points will be deducted after 10 minutes. It will count as an absence after 20 minutes.) Come back from breaks on time. If the door is closed, you are considered late. If you are utilizing your computer, it must be used for class purposes. The same rule applies to phones and texting.
Use textual evidence from the readings to support your answers. While opinion is appropriate, it must be supported by textual examples. Please check over for incorrect word usage (ware/wear; their, there, they’re; steel/steal). If unsure, look it up or have someone edit your paper. Your work must be your own. I will ask if I am in doubt.
Punctuation goes inside the quotation marks. Example: She said, “I do not want to go.” Avoid exclamation points in any writing save narrative. In business writing, exclamation points should be used judiciously The prompt may ask for your opinion, but be wary of the overuse of “I” and “Me.” Personal pronouns should be used sparingly.
Professionalism: the skill, good judgment, and polite behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well A high level of professionalism is expected when working with clients. She is highly respected for her professionalism.
This can be taught. The excuse of “this is just how I am” cannot be used in conjunction with professionalism. It is not being “fake,” but rather being human.
With the person next to you, discuss a time when you have witnessed an incredibly professional person. What were some dominate traits that really stood out?
Conversely: Describe a time when you have witnessed an incredibly unprofessional person. What was the situation? What are some dominant characteristics of an unprofessional person?
