This document provides guidelines for subnetting Class A, B and C IP addresses. It shows how many bits can be borrowed from the host portion to create subnets and calculates the total number of subnets, total hosts and usable hosts for each. Borrowing more bits increases the number of subnets but decreases the number of hosts per subnet.
