The Emerge for Future Teachers project provides University of West Florida students with high-impact educational practices through collaborative research in a partnership school. The goal is to immerse students in hands-on, meaningful learning activities like undergraduate research, capstone projects, study abroad, and community-based learning. These practices have been shown to increase student engagement and persistence, as well as foster greater appreciation for diversity. The current research project involves implementing Class Wide Peer Tutoring in reading to increase student engagement and guided practice in the partnership school. Students are gaining experience with all aspects of the research from design to implementation to dissemination through collaboration with faculty, teachers, and staff.
