The document summarizes the role and history of the Netherlands' national clearinghouse mechanism (CHM) website for the Convention on Biological Diversity. International cooperation • CHM-NL node informs about national situation regarding biological diversity and policy. • Other CBD Clearing House Mechanism goals: – Promote national and international scientific and technological cooperation – Development of the necessary human and technological network.
Technology transfer and international cooperation • Since 2002: CHM cooperation by the Netherlands with Grenada and Palau (1st generation Content Management System) • In 2009: Assisted transfer of these CBD parties to the European Portal toolkit • 2023: Further cooperation with an eye on transfer to Bioland tool?

2021-2022: transfer to Bioland tool • Focus on information provision and archive function (rather than cooperation tool aspect) • Restructured the content in a simpler (more limited) set of sections and subsections: • About (CBD and CHM) • Biodiversity (What is biodiversity and why is it important?) • Policy Netherlands (with just 5 subsections) • Archive (divided in three periods 1994-2007; 2008-2011; 2012-2017) • Made sure not to discard anything (all pages / content retained (or archived in pdf format). • Now fully bilingual (Dutch / English)
2023 and further • Support Implementation KM-GBF • Track use (implement GA) • Possibly adapt structure (depending on new NBSAP) • Possibly again strengthen the ‘cooperation tool aspect’ • Add metadata (key words) according to GBF targets (support the Monitoring and review aspects of the GBF • Possibly further international cooperation
