Tim Crawford gave a presentation on cloud computing at a conference. He began with an introduction and definition of cloud computing as a superset of software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). He described the different service models and how customers can utilize SaaS, PaaS or IaaS based on their needs. Crawford also discussed challenges around security, lock-in and legal issues when using cloud computing services and saw opportunities for specialization in the cloud market. He concluded by encouraging further discussion around strategies for leveraging cloud computing.
