This document proposes a cloud computing system for agent-based urban transportation management. It discusses how previous traffic management systems were centralized and inefficient. The proposed system uses location-based software agents that communicate with a cloud-based strategic traffic manager to store data and strategies. This allows real-time traffic updates and route recommendations to be provided to commuter applications on mobile devices, without storing data on the devices themselves. Key modules include the agents, commuter apps, and cloud-based strategic manager. Future work includes developing Android apps for agents and commuters to take advantage of widespread mobile access.
