The Cold By John Ver Vers
Conditions High winds Not a lot of fresh water Cold water Some very deadly animals Have a time when the sun is out for longer than most of the world Low humidity
Problems for People The cold can cause frost bite Low amounts of water can cause severe dehydration Sweating can cause hypothermia High winds can literally tear off your skin The low temperatures cause the body to drop in temperature, which may cause organ damage
Body Systems The respiratory- if the air is cold enough it can freeze your lungs The cardiovascular- because of the air temperature, blood vessels near the skin move toward the bones/inwards causing skin to freeze The muscular- because of how the bodies muscles react, one may have muscle spasms
Adaptations Long noses in order to warm the air before it reaches the lungs Thicker skin so the blood vessels can get closer to warm the outlying skin More fat deposits in order to keep muscles warm.
