 I am a conscientious self-motivated individual and feel I am more than capable to take on the
responsibility of almost any position immediately, and have the enthusiasm and determination to
ensure that I make a success of it. Throughout my career I have continually tried to better
myself & my family’s life, by the choices I make on a day to day basis, and I have taken this trait
with me in my working life.

Lead Instrument Technician: WoodGroup (Dana Triton FPSO) Nov 2014 to Present
Ensure maximum uptime in all aspects of Instrumentation based plant equipment through the
management of routine maintenance, and the adaptability of the team to respond to breakdown
activities. Provide technical support for control system maintenance and continuous improvement
activity. Coach and develop Instrument Trainees & Improvers on all aspects of the instrument trade and
on all aspects of their career development and training plans. Continual monitoring of the performance
of the Instrument Team through bi-Annual performance related assessments. Responsible for the
management of Vendor/ad-hoc Instrument & Control scopes whilst on-board. Focal point for any
Software relates changes required on-board. Whilst maintaining hands-on Instrument experience in all
areas of the role.

Taken my vast experience gained in the Pharmaceutical Industry & augmented this while working as a
Core Maintenance Tradesman offshore. In addition to the grounding received onshore I have spent the
last three & a half years carrying out Routine, Corrective & Breakdown maintenance on all types of
Instrumentation. I have also gained a good working knowledge of the Emergency shutdown equipment,
including Fire & Gas, Smoke & Toxic detection equipment, & the HVAC Shutdown dampers.
Various Training Courses completed to date: BOSIET, COMPEX, Offshore Medical, MIET,
ISSOW PA & IA, Leg Competent, H2S Competent, Swagelok small bore pipework, Hydratight flange
tightening, CIP (competent instrument person gained on Dunlin, Shearwater & Triton platforms),
Electrical Safety Rules, Mechanical Isolations, Pressure Testing, Emergency Response Team
Member, Offshore First Aid, Rotork ICS.
Principal Process Control Engineer: GlaxoSmithKline Sept 2007 to Aug 2010
As the Principal Process Control Engineer, I was responsible for providing technical and project support
to all site Instrumentation/Automation departments. Train and develop people in order to support all
automation systems associated with supply chain networks providing maintenance, project and
continuous improvement support directly within the Automation Team.

Control Systems  Emerson DeltaV– Over 5 years’ experience in the design, installation,
start-up and basic software maintenance of this system.
 Emerson Provox– Over 10 years’ experience in the design, installation,
start-up and software maintenance of this system.
 I/O – Experience in the implementation of conventional and remote I/O
products from a variety of suppliers such as Emerson and Stahl.
 System Networks – Experience in the implementation of various network
protocols as applied to the systems listed above, including Profibus DP,
Foundation Fieldbus, and Ethernet
Maintenance Leader: GlaxoSmithKline Jan 2005 to Sept 2007
Manage the maintenance activities of my team to ensure plant uptime is at a maximum, limiting the
potential of impacting the whole site, as all Services (steam, air, water etc) are maintained and
delivered through the Utilities department. Supervision of all contractors brought on-site as part of core
partnerships to enable the appropriate level of specialised assistance is always available. Deliver
Repairs & Maintenance budgets, with over 4 areas under my control. Change Control procedures to
ensure maintenance aspects of the change are covered, updating drawings, manuals, spares lists etc.
Ensure maximum uptime in all aspects of Instrumentation based plant equipment through the
management of routine maintenance, and the adaptability of the team to respond to breakdown
activities. Provide technical support for control system maintenance and continuous improvement
activity. Coach and develop Instrument Tradesmen (both Day and Shift based) on automation aspects
of the instrument trade and on all aspects of their career development and training plans. Continual
monitoring of the performance of the Instrument Team through bi-Annual performance related
assessments. Cost and implementation of minor Instrumentation projects, ensuring all budget,
timescale and user requirement targets are met or exceeded. Introduction and training of Instrument
Tradesmen on site-wide SAP system. Involvement in Asset Lifecycle Management and the
implementation of qualitative reporting through SAP for recordable quality critical routines.
Instrument Tradesman: GlaxoSmithKline Aug 1993 to Sept 2001
During this time I have further developed my skills with time spent on Installation, maintenance and
breakdown support of process instrumentation and automated control systems, including hardware and
software maintenance and modification. Gaining a vast knowledge over a broad range of
instrumentation types that includes, however is not restricted to:
 Pressure measurement equipment including static and differential pressure measurement methods
also vacuum pressure transmitters.
 Temperature measurement equipment including thermocouples, RTD’s and mercury filled
temperature gauges.
 Flow instrumentation including ultrasonic flow transmitters and the use of differential pressure to
calculate and measure flow.
 Level instrumentation including microwave level transmitters, differential and head pressure
methods, ultrasonic level transducers.
 Safety circuits including trip units, trip logic, trip amplifiers, switches and various marshalling
equipment.
 Experience maintaining on-line analysers such as; dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH and
ammonia analysers.
Safety  4 day training course on CFSE (Certified Functional Safety Expert)
 2 day IDC Practical Hazardous Areas for Engineers & Technicians
 PIAT certification attained (Pharmaceutical Industry Advanced Training)
covering all aspects of site safety.
