The weblog
What is it? It’s a website where a person expose his/her ideas interacting with other people. A weblog, or just a blog, can
be created by many authors. A blog can contain texts, pictures, videos, and links to other blogs. After posting an entry,
followers can comment directly on the entry, interacting with the author.
How to use a blog for teaching
A weblog is a powerful tool for teaching, given that both teacher and student are able to interact outside the classroom or
offline the platform, creating awareness in the teaching-learning process and enriching the experience of teacher and
student. This way, I am thinking of using this tool as a reinforcement when students face difficult subjects, for making classes
more attractive, or even for encouraging those students reluctant to learning. Moreover, students can learn from teacher’s
commitment and can reply in the same way. Here’s a sample of how could operate a teaching blog in a hard topic as
phonetics is: http://phonetictranscriptionunad.blogspot.com.co/
Importance of blogs
Weblogs constitute in an innovative way of teaching as nowadays the world is connected through internet, citing to George
Siemens who says that knowledge is not anymore inside the humans’ brain but outside ourselves because of the
interconnected nodes of information provided by internet. Besides, blogs allow students to go beyond teachers teaching
and they will only depend on their willing of learning.
