Combination of media products and ancillary tasks
I wanted to link all our products together to show continuity and there was many
ways I did this. Our music video is basically only focused on our artist as we
wanted to create an interest for the audience making them want to watch the
artist. This also portrays star image within the video.

We also used close up shots of the artist, both
these created an intimate feel towards the artist
and her fans breaking any tension. By doing
this it also creates bigger star image for the
artist and she will become more liked.

Most shots used the artist was looking directly
into the camera which is often known as
‘breaking the fourth wall’ this made the video a
lot more personal as it was like the artist is
looking directly at her audience.
The colours of the digipak linked with the colours of the website,
our main colour was black and white and we also included red as
the song was called ‘Red Lines’ which shows the relation of song
and visuals from Andrew Goodwins Theory. Together these both
looked very effective as they worked together very well.
The colours compared to the music video were slightly
different, our video was done in colour and when we
came to edit we increased the contrast and brightness.
However we did stick with the red theme as we used red lipstick
on the artist which stood out quite a lot on the video. It also
created a ‘stylish’ look attracting the young females to their idol.
Again using Andrew Goodwin’s theory this relates to voyeurism
as we emphasised the artists lips.
Effectively the all worked really well as
it shown the continuity with the colours
on each product.
In our music video the artist tends to look
down at the floor a lot when she is
dancing which portrays sophistication. On
the back panel of the digipak the artist is
captured looking down, the continuity of
this works well with each other as the
expressions of the artist run throughout
the products.
The bio on the website allows the
audience to have a relationship with
the artist because they can get to
know more about her. This links in
with the music video and digipak as
without the bio the artist would be a
‘blank canvas’ to most, therefore
this is needed for her star image to
increase.

On the website there are links to the music
video on YouTube and for them to be able
to subscribe to her personal channel,
allowing them to get the latest on her
music life and updates. This shows
intertextuality within both of the products,
which allows the audience to watch the
video and explore her website at one time.
We wanted our artist to be recognisable to others increasing her star image, apart from the
red lipstick and her sense of style we wanted to do something else people could associate
her with. After researching into other artists we decided to make a signature of her initials.
Even though this is not necessarily conventional with our genre we thought it would be a
good idea, especially for promotion.
We made this on ‘picmonkey’ when while we was editing the panels of our digipak. The
signature is included on the two inside panels and on every page at the bottom of her website.
Although the signature isn’t on the music video it still looks effective on the ancillary tasks, I
think it would maybe be too much if it was on the video also.
Also, on the digipak all the panels were
close up/midshots of the artist, running
from the theme of shots in the music
video it shows continuity. This is also a
way that audience can recognise the
artist. Especially because the photo’s
used for the digipak the artist has bare
shoulders which could make her easy
recognisable by others as it was a
running theme throughout the panels.
Altogether the combination of all three products work really well together.
Linking in with colours, images and personalities which continue throughout
them all. They all allow the audience to get to know the artist more from the
small details which have been portrayed of her. Although some things used in
my products are not conventionally used in the same genre they still look
effective because of how they have been used.
