• This session will introduce you to Adobe Connect:
An online meeting tool which can be used to
videoconference with others, present webinars
and be used as a collaborate tool from anywhere
in the world.
• This session will feature some demonstrations
and examples of real-world use at the University
of Adobe Connect as well as time to become
familiar with Adobe Connect and try it for
yourself hands on.

educational scenarios
• Be aware of the options for use in distance-learning and
communicating with others synchronously all over the world

WHAT IS ADOBE CONNECT?
What is ADOBE CONNECT?
• Adobe Connect is a solution used by leading corporations and government
agencies to improve collaboration and get work done faster. Within Higher
Education it is a tool of choice alongside Blackboard Elluminate. It enables you to
provide rich interactions, while ensuring easy meeting entry. The solution consists
of the following three components:
• Adobe Connect for Web Meetings addresses a full range of online meeting needs,
from simple screen sharing to mission-critical, real-time collaboration, and allows
your teams to work more efficiently, increasing productivity and helping reduce
costs.
• Adobe Connect for eLearning provides novices and experts alike with the
capability to create and deliver compelling, self-paced online courses, conduct
highly interactive virtual classes, and efficiently manage training programs.
• Adobe Connect for Webinars enables organizations to increase attendance, boost
response rates, and generate more interest through rich, engaging, highly
interactive online events.

Adobe Connect @ Leeds
• A pilot of Adobe Connect has been running at the University of
Leeds since July 2010. SDDU was awarded £2K funding to initiate a
pilot project with emphasis on using Adobe Connect for lecture
capture and also for live streaming and virtual meetings.
• In June, 2011, the BLFG were presented with a report on the
progress of the pilot. £10k was awarded to further the pilot, with
emphasis on exploring Blackboard integration, broadening the user
base and investigating costing models.
• The current licence model is of a ‘Named Organizer Pricing Model’
which means that at any one time there can be a maximum of 55
people assigned as hosting a meeting (these can be changed as
needed). There is a limit of 100 attendees per meeting.
• Hosting is provided by Adobe on their servers.

Why Virtual Preview Events?
• A virtual preview event will allow us to engage
prospective students in different markets who are
unable to attend a real University of Leeds
postgraduate event. The virtual preview event
will give us an opportunity to:
• Engage with both UK and international students
considering FMH postgraduate programmes
• Gain useful customer insights through the
question and answer sessions
• Potentially gain more diversity in our
postgraduate student body
