How to Speak?
Your Greatest tool as a speaker is your voice. Ever time you address an audience your mind, your body and your voice act as partners in your effort to communicate
with your listeners.
One of your goals as a speaker should be to develop a voice that is:
• Pleasant
• Natural, reflecting your true personality and sincerity
• Dynamic, giving the impression of force and strength even when it isn’t especially loud
• Expressive, portraying various shades of meaning and never sounding monotonous or without emotion
• Easily heard, thanks to proper volume and clear articulation
How your voice is Created
• Breath Produces Voice
• Production of Voice Quality
What kind of Voice Do You Have?
• Do You Whisper or Boom?
• Are You Monotonous or Melodious?
• Is Your Voice a Rain Cloud or a Rainbow?
• How Well Do You Articulate?
9
Your Body Speaks!!!
When you present a speech, you send two kinds of messages to your audience.
1. While your voice transmits a verbal message,
2. A vast amount of information is being visually conveyed by your appearance, your manner and your physical behavior
Actions Speak Louder Than Words:
• While presenting a speech, your listeners will use their visual sense to determine if you
• Are sincere
• Welcome the opportunity to address them
• Truly believe what you’re saying
• Are interested in them and care about them
• Are confident and in control of the situation
Five Ways to Make Your Body Speak Effectively:
• Eliminate Distracting Mannerisms
• Be Natural, Spontaneous and Conversational
• Let your Body Mirror Your Feelings
• Build Self-Confidence through Preparation
• Use this forum as a Learning Laboratory

Email Etiquettes
Tips for Writing good emails:
• Respect other’s time
• Do not be part of spamming
• Use CC and BCC features with care
• Do not use All Capital or All Lower case letters
• Never reply to Spam
• Do not use email to convey Anger
• Avoid attachments to the extent possible
• Write well-structured emails and use short, descriptive subjects
• This means that sentences can be short and to the point. The mail can start with ‘Hi’, or ‘Dear’, and the name of the person. Messages can be ended with ‘Best
Regards’, “Thank You” or any appropriate ending salutation
• Use the spell checker before sending an email
• Do not send unnecessary attachments. Compress attachments before sending them
• Do not use cc: or bcc: fields unless the cc: or bcc: recipient is aware that a mail will be copied to him/her and knows what action, if any, to take
• Use “reply all” facility judiciously
• For forward mails, state clearly what action is expected by the recipient
• Only mark emails as important if they really are important
