This document presents a comparative study on the effectiveness of different price penalty factors applied to the combined economic and emission dispatch (CEED) problem using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. The research focuses on a real power network in West Algeria, demonstrating that the min-max price penalty factor yields the best compromise in terms of cost and emissions when optimizing the operational parameters of generating units. The findings highlight the algorithm's capability to balance fuel costs and emissions effectively while satisfying essential operational constraints.
