NOTE
The compendium of courses after +2, is an earnest effort of the board to facilitate students
while scouting for right course choices. While all care has been taken to provide information,
although in brief, about the traditional, popular and new age courses, it still may not be as
comprehensive considering that there are an estimated 900 universities and over 41,000
colleges in the country providing higher education and teaching a plethora of subjects. The
intention is limited to creating awareness among the students (please also see disclaimer).

Introduction
Aerospace engineering is the branch of

Introduction
Astronomy is a combination of physics, chemistry
and mathematical principles/rules. Astrophysics
can be called its offshoot. It deals with detailed
study of the physical, chemical and dynamic
properties of celestial objects. It also deals with
the phenomena over and above Earth's
atmosphere. There is associated study of
calculations of orbits, gravitational forces,
satellites, meteors, galaxies, comets, stars,
planetary objects, planets, satellites etc. In
Astrophysics, we explore and ensure
properties/nature of the astronomical objects
with the help of laws of physics and chemistry.
There is also the field of Cosmology which studies

Chemical Engineering is the design and
maintenance of chemical plants and the
development of chemical processes for
converting raw materials or chemicals into
valuable forms including those used to remove

scale manufacture. It combines knowledge of

This branch of engineering is a varied field,

Introduction
Civil Engineering involves planning, designing and
executing structural works. The course deals with
a wide variety of engineering tasks including
designing, supervision and construction activities
of public works like roads, bridges, tunnels,

Introduction
Electrical and electronics engineering is about use
of technology ranging from global positioning
systems to electrical power generators. These
engineers are responsible for designing,
developing, testing as well supervising the
production of electrical and electronic equipment
and machinery.
Specialization in Electrical and electronics
engineering include areas like power generation,
transmission and distribution; communications;
manufacture of electrical equipment etc. or one
particular specialty within these area; e.g.
industrial robot control systems or aviation
electronics.
There are Microwave engineers who produce
radar, communications, and fibres optics
systems. Communications and signal processing

Introduction
CHARTERED FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
Degree and Engineering college students (any
discipline).
The candidates who are successful in the
admission test and those who are exempted
from passing the admission test are enrolled for
the Programme. A student is allowed a
maximum period of three years to complete the
preliminary level of the programme and a
maximum period of seven years to complete the
entire programme.
Eligibility
CFA Program gives an insight in corporate finance,
investment management and financial services. The
Program is divided into three levels. Preliminary;
inter and final level. It is recognized as a
Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Analysis by AICTE.
It is a self-study programme and the Institute
supplies study material to the enrolled students.
There are also courses like Diploma in Basic Finance
(DBF) and Merchant Banking and Financial Services
(MBFS).
Admission Test
The admission to both the programs is through a
basic test. The admission test aims at testing the
aptitude of the candidates for professional studies
in financial analysis. Hence the quantitative
reasoning ability of the candidate is tested. The
admission test is held four times in a year in the
months of January, April, July and October.
Exemption
The MBAs, Post Graduate Diploma Holders in
Management, CAs, CWAs, CSs, CAIIBs, First class
graduates/postgraduates and senior executives
with ten years of service in the public sector or the
private sector can seek exemption from the
admission test.
