Protein biosynthesis involves amino acid activation and attachment to tRNA, mRNA transcription and translation at the ribosome. The ribosome joins mRNA and tRNA to assemble amino acids into a protein chain. ATP and GTP provide energy, while magnesium and initiation, elongation and termination factors regulate the process. Protein biosynthesis differs between prokaryotes and eukaryotes in their ribosome subunit sizes and initiation/elongation/termination factors.
