Hamlet
• The prince of Denmark
• The title character,
• Son of queen Gertrude and
the late king Hamlet,
• Hamlet is melancholy, bitter, and cynical, full of
hatred for his uncles’s scheming and disgudt for
his mother’s sexuality.
• A reflective and thoughtful youngman who has
studied at the university of wittenberg, hamlet is
often indecisive and hesitant, but at other times
prone to rash and impulsive acts.
Aravasu
• Aravasu is son of Bharadwaja
• Protagonist of the play
• Want to become actor
• Fall in love with Nittilai
• Outsider
• Against of his brother paravasu
• At the end of the play he lost everything
Play within play
• The play presented within helmet is
actually called “ The murder of Gonzong”. The plot of
it closely resembly the actual murder of Hamlet’s
father, and the reason that hamlet chooses to have it
performed is it to trap claudies into revealing his
guilt”
• In the fire and the rain same thing happened,
Paravasu killed his father by mistake and he realize
that happen then he said to aravasu he has to do
father’s cremated and I have to went on fire sacrifice
so, Paravasu went at fire sacrifice and aravasu and
Vishkha was on his father’s body. Then Aravasu came
to fire sacrifice so Paravasu said that “He is brahmin
killer, he shouldn’t be allowed to entre sacrifice
enclosure” to king.
Feminist perspective
• If we read this play “fire and the rain”
with feminist perspective, so we find that two
women characters Vishkha and Natilai suffered a lot
in their life. Nittilai murdered by her husband and
brother because she fall in love with Aravasu. While
Vishkha fall in love with Yavakari. And hit by her
father in law (Raibhya).
• A play which began as a plot of revenge turned
in to a story of betrayal, aiming to downplay the character of
Gerttude and Ophelia. Ophelia is a sweet and innocent girl,
who obey her father and her brother, Laertes , Depend on men
to tell her how to behave, she gives in to Polonius's schemes to
spy on hamlet. Even in her lapse into madness and death, she
remain maidenly, singing songs about flower and finally
drowning in the river amid the flower garlands she had
gathered. Gerttude loves hamlet deeply, and married to
claudies. And at the and of the she dies by poison.
Conclusion
• At the end of this discussion we can say
that both the playwrights uses technique of
play within play.
• If we read these plays with feminist
perspective then we fine two characters who
suffer a lot in their life.
