- 14. Storage Devices A storage device is any computing hardware that is used for storing, porting and extracting data files and objects. - 15. Software Software is the programs and applications that tell the computer what to do and how to look. Computer programmers write the codes/instructions that make-up software applications/programs. There are two types of software: • Application Software • Operating System Software

Examples of an application include a word processor, spread sheet an accounting application, a web browser, a media player, a photo editor.
