Blu-ray Disc is a next-generation optical disc format that was developed to enable high-definition video playback and storage of large amounts of data. It utilizes a blue-violet laser to read and write data, giving it the name "Blu-ray." The Blu-ray Disc format was developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association, a group of over 170 leading consumer electronics and media companies. Blu-ray Discs can store 25 GB per layer for standard discs, up to 128 GB for quadruple-layer discs, significantly more than DVDs and allowing for high-definition video.
