- 2. WHAT IS THE INTERNET? • The Internet is a network of cables that run across the world connecting all computers. Also known as the World Wide Web.
- 3. WHAT IS A WEB BROWSER? • The web browser is the main app or program on a computer that displays the information from the Internet or World Wide Web. • Examples: Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari
- 4. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE INTERNET AND A BROWSER? • The Internet stores the information and the web browser displays it.
- 5. WHAT ARE SEARCH ENGINES? • Search engines are different programs that you can use keywords to search for specific information on the Internet or World Wide Web.
- 6. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SEARCH ENGINE AND A BROWSER? • A browser is the main app/program on the computer that displays the information from the Internet but the search engines allow you to use keywords to find that specific information. •

HOW DO SEARCH ENGINES WORK? 1)You type in a search term. 2)The search engines send out spiders or crawlers to find pages with that term in them. 3)The search then indexes the pages they found by organizing them and storing them. 4)The search engine then uses algorithms to show the most relevant web pages to your search.
- 8. WHAT IS A FILTER BUBBLE? • Filter bubbles occur when the search engine takes all the information you've searched and guesses what you will want next. It tries to personalize you search based on what you have done previously.
