- 3. WHAT IS A WEB BROWSER? A browser is a computer application which allows you to search for, access and view websites.
- 4. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE INTERNET AND A BROWSER? The Internet is the physical connection between all computers while browsers are the services that let you search and access the information.
- 5. WHAT ARE SEARCH ENGINES? A search engine is a program that allows you to search the Internet for information.
- 6. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SEARCH ENGINE AND A BROWSER? A search engine lets you look for information and a browser lets you see the information you searched
- 7. HOW DO SEARCH ENGINES WORK? 1. You type in a search term. 2. The search engine sends out spiders or crawlers to find pages with that term in them. 3. The search engine then indexes the pages they found by organizing them and storing them. 4. The search engine then uses an algorithim to show the most relevant web pages to your search.
- 8. WHAT IS A FILTER BUBBLE? Filter bubbles occur when the search engine takes all the information you’ve searched and guesses what you will want next. It tries to personalize your search based on what you have done previously.
