- 2. Sex Education is Essential Without it, teenagers do not know how to properly protect themselves. Abstinence only education is the standard in our country. Instead of telling our teens that sex is forbidden, we need to teach them to protect themselves. If we do this, the teen pregnancy and STD rates should drop drastically.
- 3. Lack of Laws Requiring Sexual Education In most states there is no law requiring schools to teach accurate sex education. Or sex education at all. In almost every state, the sex education standard is abstinence only. If young people don’t know what sex is, how are they to protect themselves from it’s dangers?
- 4. Teen Pregnancy Rate • Luckily, the pregnancy rate has gone down. • Schools have to choice to teach proper sex education. • Several realize that this is the best choice for our youth. • Even some parents chose to teach their kids at home to protect them.
- 5. Teen STD Rate STD rates among young adults, are far higher than any other age group. Without education in schools, they do not know how to behave. Even adults out of High School and College are uneducated. Throughout upwards of 20 years, no one taught them proper ways to prevent STD’s
- 6. Religion Having sex prior to marriage is thought to be a sin in many religions. However, our country does not have a religion we must adhere to. For this reason, we must not base our laws off the laws of religion. To make our country stronger smarter and safer, it is best to teach young people everything they need to know.
- 7. Conclusion There is no reason to continue shielding our nation’s young people from unavoidable truths. Sex is a dangerous act, and if we don’t educate our youth about those dangers, they’ll end up learning the hard way. A majority of our countries STD’s and pregnancies come straight from the millennials. If a person doesn’t know any better, they aren’t able to protect themselves. Teen STD’s and pregnancies are not the fault of the teens, but the fault of the adults who did not educate them. We must make a change.
