Construction follows a process with 8 main steps: 1) preparing to build by identifying needs, designing plans, and obtaining permits; 2) preparing the site by clearing land and laying foundations; 3) setting foundations to support the structure; 4) building the framework through floor, wall and roof framing; 5) enclosing the structure with sheathing, windows/doors, and roofing; 6) installing utilities like electricity, plumbing and HVAC; 7) finishing interiors with insulation, drywall, flooring and trim; and 8) finishing exterior sites. Structures are built through a combination of standardized processes and customized procedures depending on design, materials and regulations.
