What is Context of Organization?
Transition series
Introduction
Revised Quality Management System (QMS) standard for the
automotive Industry, developed by International Automotive Task
Force (IATF)
This revised standard cancels & replaces ISO/TS 16949 - 2009
Aligned with ISO 9001 – 2015 & Not a standalone QMS - must be
used in conjunction with ISO 9001 - 2015
Changes from ISO/TS 16949 to IATF 16949
• Addition of original equipment manufacturers
(OEM) customer-specific requirements (CSRs) -
meant to help the process by unifying and
reducing CSR
• implementation requirements by the certified
organization and those that would require third -
party auditing from a certification body. Note:
CSRs will still be issued by OEMs and
throughout the supply chain
• Requirements for safety-related parts and
processes
• Improved product traceability requirements,
addressing the latest regulatory changes
• New requirements for products featuring
embedded software
• Requirement for a warranty management process
addressing no trouble found
• Increased focus on corporate responsibility
requirements
• Clarification of sub-tier supplier management
and development requirements
• Implementation of Annex SL high-level structure
that adds process consistencywith ISO 9001:2015
