Contingency planning
- 1. Creative Media Production Contingency Name Stephanie Westerman Project Recipe Cards Risk to project Contingency plan Work might get corrupted if the memory stick isn’t ejected properly. To make sure that my work saves when taking my memory stick out I will have to make sure that I eject the memory stick by clicking on the eject button on the computer and wait until my USB is hidden meaning it’s not showing up as being plugged in on the desktop then take it out once the operation is complete. The work might not save properly if I exit the programme I’m using to do the work before it’s finished saving. To make sure that my work saves before exiting the programme I will make sure that I keep saving it at regular intervals just in case I did happen to exit the programme before it had fully saved, and to make sure I does fully save when closing down my computer I will make sure I wait until the bar at the bottom of the programme is at 100% Computer could crash when doing my work. To make sure that the computer I’m going to be using doesn’t crash I will make sure that I again save the work at regular intervals, this will enable the computer to have a break and make sure that the computer doesn’t get over heated. I will also make sure that the computer doesn’t have too many programme’s running so that there’s not too many things for the computer to process leading to it crashing. The computer I’m working on might have the old Photoshop installed on it rather than the new ones (CS5 & CS6). To ensure that the computer I’m going to be using has the new Photoshop on I will make sure that I’m using some sort of Mac computer or a computer with Mac software on it, this will enable me to get my work done as the older versions of Photoshop won’t have all the tools that I will need in order to finish my work, or at least to a high standard.
- 2. Creative Media Production Might be ill some days when doing the project, this means I will get behind and might end up rushing my work to get to where everyone else is. If I did become ill on one of the days when doing the project I could try and do some other work at home to try and improve my work or do some work on the breaks that I have in the library to catch up. This will help me to get to where my schedule says I should be and make sure that I meet the deadline. The work might not go as planned, for example the programme I’d be using might not have the colours that I want. To make sure I have the colours I want I could have done a mood board of all the different colours and write all the codes of the colours down. This would help me to get my work done quickly and efficiently without any panic or stress. When I make the cards the paper might end up being the wrong size. To make sure that the paper is the right size when making a new document I will make sure I change the size of the paper before I do anything else. This means it will help me to meet the brief and gain higher marks. Falling behind. To make sure that I don’t fall behind I will make sure I stick to my Schedule and tick of the parts of it that I have done, this will help me to see what I have and haven’t done. Forget to follow the schedule. If I forget to follow my schedule then I might end up getting behind towards the end of the project realising that I have missed parts out. This will mean that my cards could potentially fail to meet the brief and could loose me marks. If I don’t follow my schedule then I might finish my work too early with nothing left to do, which can sometimes be good as I could go back and make my work even better, but on the other side of this I might not finish my work in time.
- 3. Creative Media Production Failure to meet the deadline. If I don’t meet the deadline then this means that I won’t be able to pass this part of the course, to make sure that I do meet the deadline I will stick to a tight schedule and work quickly and efficiently. This will mean working hard and not being distracted, I will also be checking my schedule 0 every now and then to see what I should be doing and what I haven’t done. This will help me to pass this part of the criteria. Making sure I have backup files. To make sure I have backup files even if my memory stick does happen to have something wrong with it or if the work doesn’t save before I exit the programme I should upload all my work on to my blogger even if it isn’t finished just in case so that I’ve still got everything and wont have to start again. Low quality images. The criteria specifically says to only use high quality images if I’m going to be using images that aren’t my own, so this means that I will have to look for high resolution images, to do this I will check what resolution all my images are to make sure that I meet the brief.
