• Continuous Process lmprovement
• Re-engineering
continual improvement process
• Continuous improvement is based on a Japanese Concept called Kaizen
• continuous improvement process is an ongoing effort to improve products, services, or processes.
• These efforts can seek "incremental" improvement over time or "breakthrough" improvement all
at once.
FOCUS OF CIP FOR EXAMPLE:-
• Reducing the length of time required to process requests for loans
in bank.
• By reducing the number of employee injuries.
Implementation of continuous improvement
• Instilling a philosophy of continuous improvement in an organization may be a lengthy process,
and several steps are essential to its eventual success.
• Build work teams and employee involvement.
• Utilize problem-solving techniques within work teams.
• Develop a sense of operator ownership of the process.
How to Improve CIP
• Reduce resources
• Reduce errors
• Meet or exceed expectations of internal/external customers
• Make the process safer
• Make the process more satisfying to the person doing it.

Re-engineering
• “Reengineering is the fundamental rethinking and radical redesign
of business processes to achieve dramatic improvements in critical,
contemporary measures of performance such as cost, quality, service
and speed”.
• focuses on processes and not on tasks, jobs or people.
Why Reengineering?
• Management focus – efficiency and control of operations
• Hyper-competitiveness
• Globalization
• Very demanding customers
• Management and IT focus: Innovation, responsiveness/speed, quality and
service.
